Being a “Green” Mom Today vs. 50 Years Ago

October 29, 2018 by Mia V. No Comments
green mom

These days, most of us are trying our best to be a “green mom” with recycling and doing more things to protect the planet, but isn’t it sad that we are even having to think about these things in the first place? People are so quick to judge the generation before ours, saying they didn’t do enough for the future generations. However, it’s time our generation takes a long, hard look in the mirror because WE are the generation to blame. Yes you heard right. Let’s look at some examples of being a green mom nowadays as opposed to 50 years ago:

The girl I was before becoming a mom – where has she gone?

September 20, 2018 by Mia V. No Comments

Disclaimer: This is not a post that will give advice or tips on how to do certain things – these are my thoughts coming straight from the heart about being a mom. I’m sharing these with you all, since I know that I am probably not the only one feeling this way, and I’m hoping that this can start a conversation…

Lately I’ve been seeing many people talking about this topic – longing for the women we used to be before we became moms, but at the same time not ever wanting to trade the feeling of motherhood for anything else.

The Ups and Downs of Being a Working Mom

July 11, 2018 by Mia V. No Comments
working mom

I won’t sugar coat it: leaving my baby at home to go to work was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I don’t think any amount of Maternity Leave is ever enough. When the baby is first born, you look at the rest of your leave like a long stretch of road in front of you, but before you know it, you are counting the days till you have to leave that precious little thing at home in the care of someone else. There are quite a few ups and downs of being a working mom, but the same rules apply for stay-at-home moms – Keeping a healthy balance is extremely difficult, but exceptionally important for your well-being as a mom, whether you work full-time or stay at home full-time.

The Importance of Routines for Babies

June 10, 2018 by Mia V. 1 Comment
routines

I had always heard about the importance of routines for babies, but didn’t fully understand why  until I saw how it worked on my own baby. There are many different types of routines (or schedules) ranging from feeding, sleeping and even bath time. I found that the feeding and day-time sleeping schedules changed quite a bit as she got older, but one thing that has stayed the same is her bath and bedtime routine – it was the first step to getting her to sleep through the night.

Investing in our Skin

May 25, 2018 by Mia V. No Comments
skin

This week I had the pleasure of trying out the CACI Natural Microlift Facial at The Skin Hub clinic in Byblos. I had heard about it before and was quite eager to try it, since a lot of celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashians do this treatment before a special red carpet event.

The facial was amazing!! It was divided into three parts: Microdermabrasion with red and blue LED light, a Micro Lift and a Hydro Mask (electric meso-therapy). It wasn’t painful at all, just slight tingling sensations during the second part as the facial muscles are being stimulated.  I could see instant results afterwards, and my skin looked refreshed and radiant when I walked out.

The owner of the clinic, Zorica, was so lovely and we had such a nice chat about skincare and preventative beauty routines, that I decided to write an article about it.

Pregnancy

Before you ask – no I’m not pregnant again! This is just a reflection on my pregnancy and the things I would do differently with the next one…

The Wonder Weeks – What Are They?

February 9, 2018 by Mia V. 1 Comment
The Wonder Weeks

You’ve probably heard about babies going through various phases in their development, not just physically, but cognitively as well. There’s a book called “The Wonder Weeks” that was originally written by Dutch professor Frans X Plooij. It claims to predict patterns and the actual periods when your baby would be going through what they call a “leap” or a cognitive jump resulting in clinginess, crankiness and possible sleep regression during this time.
